Hi Guys,
I was out last week. I am back now. Last time when we had a conference call, we decided to post flyers about immigration voice in our local communities and also getting in touch with the local newspapers. Since everyone is back from the holidays now, lets have a conference call next Wednesday. Till then, please post as many flyers as possible to increase IV's awareness.

The truth is they already know that there are professors and research scientists who are in limbo. Its just unfortunate that every one has to ride the same boat. We need to call lawmakers to tell them how bad the situation is, contribute so that IV can reach the lawmakers through lobbying. If every one does the above two things, we will reach our goal faster.

Please do not mind, my writing this - I honestly think we should stop writing insensible comments like "sick people getting frustrated" and the like...
IV is a professional not for profit outfit, with a set agenda. We should work together towards achieving our goal, through legal, available channels.
If things work out - great! If they don't, it's disappointing but not the end of the world.
People who chose to stay and wait longer for their Permanent Residency will do so; those who cannot (for whatever reasons) will find other alternatives...
Let's not make this a platform for venting out our frustrations.

Another reason for the slow movement is people getting married.. a spouse potentially accounts for yet another visa number and this adds to the unpredictability of the system. It gets even worse with non-US born kids.
The solution to all our visa backlog issues is:

Please wait and watch for couple of months. You can keep writing to congressmen, ombudsman, push for visa recapture in lame ducks, ask for more transparency into the process but please don't send any flowers now and try to embarrass any govt organization directly. We don't know what effect its going to have.Instead go through the Ombudsman to voice your concerns.Finally, please get the consent of core IV before you attempt this.
We really, really want EB2/3-I folks, especially those who have been waiting for 5 years or more, to get out of this gc process as painlessly as possible.

Any July 2nd filers got their receipt #s?
My package has been sent to TSC on July 2nd around 9AM by FedEx. Did not hear anything yet.
Did you call TSC about the status? Somebody got their receipt numbers today by calling NSC. (looks like package Reached NSC on 06/23/2007 and Notice Date is 07/24/2007)

Here is a summary of what we discussed in the conference call. Please add anything that I may have missed out.
1> Contact local congressmen - This is by far the most important thing that we have to do. As mentioned in my previous posts, congressmen will talk to only their district people, so each one of us has to try to contact the local congressmen - Varsha, Sanjay, Shekar, Ajay and Rajeev
2> Investigate our options with EBC radio - Sanjay
3> Investigate our options with Namaste America, AVS - Don't remember who volunteered for this
4> Distribute Flyers at Metropark on Monday - Ajay and Shekhar
5> Distribute Flyers at Bridgewater Temple - Varsha, Sanjay, Shekar, Ajay and Rajeev - Saturday, 02/03/2007
6> Come up with catch flyer sentences - Varsha to come up with the first draft. Lets try to close this out by Wednesday, 01/31/2007.
7> Investigate options with local newspapers - Ajay
8> Contact Oprah Winfrey - Varsha
9> Continue ongoing membership drive - Varsha, Sanjay, Shekar, Ajay and Rajeev

This person is a racist who thinks we are all "Middle Eastern" who want to blow things up here. She prefers we all go back "where we came from". Read her previous post. She feels she is "owed" a green card even though she broke all the rules. Why are you guys trying to help this person? Isnt it a crime to try and help a person evade immigration laws?

Shouldn't any application rejected on July 2nd have already reached our lawyer's office by now?
Also, if my appliction, filled on July 2nd,reached 11:34 AM CST, has not been returned yet, shouldn't we assume that it will be accepted?
Is it not possible to re-submit the documents all over, even though USCIS might be holding on to our first applications of July 2nd?
What are the ramifications (if any) of doing this?

When prominent business houses like Microsoft, Google, Cisco, Oracle and organizations like AILA seem powerless when it comes to influencing senators, lawmakers and government organizations like USCIS and DOS, what can IV team do to change the policies. understandably so.. but I am now current after a looooong time. EB3 Dec 2001 PD. I can finally file the AOS for my wife who has been on H4 for the last 2 yrs... excellent!
sunnymit, congrats and definitely for a fellow EB3 member, it is a cause for celebration who has been waiting since Dec 2001. especially when the dates keep coming all the way till Nov 2001, but never crossed beyond that.

Guys we need to start new fund drive to help core members with fund for advocacy efforts. I know every active member is working hard right now on at least one action item. Lets contribute and help IV with fund.
Lets start with target of $5000 by 10 p.m.
Lets see if we meet it.. We have more 2000 members online right now.
Thanks in advance for all you can do..
Immigration Voice encourages all members to help AILF/AILA's potential lawsuit by joining them as plaintiffs and contribute funds to Immigration Voice (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=44). We will actively help AILF or other organizations in this lawsuit to force USCIS/DOS to compensate for :
1. Financial and other damages caused due to manipulation of Visa bulletins out of order.
2. Violation of federal regulations and precedents.
A victory in such a potential lawsuit could in effect may either force USCIS to accept the 485 petitions in July and accept the ones it may deny/return in July.
The outcome of lawsuit cannot be guaranteed but USCIS and DOS are certainly facing a tough fight from us as well as from AILA and like minded organizations.
Please contribute funds as Immigration Voice would need funds to finance an expensive lawsuit against USCIS/DOS should it decide to actively participate in a class action lawsuit.
Update: Thank you everyone who has contributed since July 2 when we announced the drive. Our total contributions from paypal and google are around $2,500 till now (despite having 15 k members). As you can understand this is hardly of any significance for even a small legal effort. A big lawsuit is out of question. Thus IV core will use it for IV activities to further pursue its advocacy efforts. IV encourages its members being a plaintiffs with AILF if they so desire. If you are an IV member and also a plaintiff, you can let us know for any guidance we can provide. IV will be coming up with more direction to its members soon. We will have some plan for everyone and will need participation from everyone. Please stay tuned.
