Lucky you, you might start seeing LUDs on you case by the end of this month. If you do please send me a message.
Reg correcting the dates, USCIS usually takes months to respond to such things. I'm not gonna do anything about it for my case, unless the processing dates show virtually no movement.
My understanding of process.date is that it is the oldest date of completed cases - which means they might be caught up with processing on most cases received till that date (July-20th 2007 ?) I could be wrong, we'll see..

online petition is a very good idea. it is bound to gain increased attention as we make our views clear. having country quotas/limits in EB system does not make any sense. if not addressed quickly the people from retrogressed countries have to wait 15-20 years before they can ever see their green card while applicants from other countries get their green cards in a few months.

My friend I have seen many things in my 45 years life. But never have I seen as much bullshit in one post. If you are so smart that your invention could lose $3 billion in a quarter, why are you unemployed for last 1 yr? If you don’t have a job it has got to be someone else’s fault, right? This is not a new trend. While you are ok to work in a company started by an immigrant or in a technology created by an immigrant, you find it morally wrong for immigrants to compete with you, right? this does happen- for people in the US already. larger companies find it convenient to simply send the employee out for asactly 365 days and then transfer them back. and Viola! you are in the front of the line!

Clearly dude, you have no idea what you are talking about. we are not talking about a situation like what to do if a thug holds you at gunpoint and asked for money. we talking about a Govt rule or law. it's about what is right and what is wrong. The officer could throw a bad word at you like "i am pretty sure you are terrorist" which would be in our favor. worst case he would shoot me, but chances of that happening are next to zero.
I want to remain silent, raise suspicion, make them scramble to find out who i am, make them feel like working hard only to find out that I have made a fool of them. That's the only way they would realize how stupid the rule is.
Just imagin that Sunday 1000 people had remained silent, they would have to call to their superiors for more officers, more cars, more laptops, documents, more running around, etc. That would have become an issue in the state senate where the budget is already tight, they are fighting for pennies and the nonsense border patrol has spent millions in a day to find NOTHING (because ALL illegals had escapped by saying one word "CITIZEN").

The law clearly states (read my previous post on this thread), within 100 miles of International border, border patrol officer can ask for your immigration status, if you say you are not a citizen (see Desi3933's post as to what can happen if you say you are a citizen when you are not). If you refuse to produce proof, you can be arrested, plain and simple.

I wasn't going to jump in the debate on what was Murthy's intention when she published that letter. But I can't help noting something odd in the posts where some are claiming she will try to take credit later on for making this "big development" happen. We don't even know what this big development is!! All we have is a posting by the Core Group and couple of attorneys' websites' speculation. I am hoping it's will be a big positive development for us when it is announced, but right now we are counting our chickens before they are hatched and denouncing someone's intention based on speculations and guesses!

By the way, here's a funny (and sad but true) anecdote. I had already been on H1-B status with my current employer for over a year when I engaged HR to start my green card/adjustment of status process. The answer I got from the HR person was "Oh, sorry, but we don't sponsor"...I was frozen! Did not know whether to laugh or cry out loud! "But dear, you already have sponsored me!" I told the poor lady.....

All Im asking for is clarity. DOS needs to come out and say that based on current demand we except your priority date to be current between x and y date. Even if the x and y is something ridiculous like 8 or 10 ys I am cool with it. Atleast we will know where we stand and not try to be hopeful and depressed with each VB. We need some good estimates to make imp life decision.
The original intent of country caps was to prevent one single country from monopolizing the immigration (but this was regular unskilled immigration like family based immigration etc). But when it comes to skill based immigration it is ridiculous to maintain country caps. Everybody including the US government, USCIS and industry know that country caps in skilled category are ridiculous. That is why in H1B they don’t enforce the country caps. Because if they enforce the country caps in H1b the whole H1 program will collapse. I know the difference between h1 and green cards but when you bring people into US on H1 without country caps they should not enforce country caps on H1 to green cards skilled category. You may be considered as out of status but your situation is much better than Visa overstay. If they send RFE then you may have to give proper reason. There are many people who are not getting paid in Bench but rarely green card was denied. Atleast I did not hear anyone green card was denied because of not receiving any pay.
Folks, I didn't worked for an year(2001) due to, you know what I am saying....

I have worked in France and Belgium for a little over an year and this is my personal experience - the work environment at that time 2000 - 01 was alright. However, I had to struggle with language barriers and worse of all - the keyboard barriers. The standards in IT industry were very very different and though it was an experience, the learning curve was huge. Personally, I would much rather prefer to be in US or better still in UAE I'd think.
Next, I have been reading a lot about reverse brain drain - where families were going back home. I also heard about some site about return2India.com. And my brother took the step after pondering over it for an year - he had it all - GC, a family here, job at you know where in Seattle - and his experience has been an enlightment - he is now struggling with work life ratio - he spends most of the day/night at work and he has to pay bills at the bank and he has no clue what is going on at the school and somehow, his team in India thinks he is a smartass because he tries to apply certain standards (which ofcourse is normal here) and he speaks with an accent. And yes, if you studied here and lived for 10 years, you too will have the accent. But, he says he is very satisfied and happy to be there.And then he says, the pay scale is sufficient for him and his family to lead the Indian dream. We should have some way of commuicating with such expatriates too!!!
